SJ's Birthday
Last Saturday was a day to truly remember. Reflecting on it now, brings a smile to my face. It all started with rushing back to the office in the morning, well, not really morning, early afternoon. Had to pick up SJ's gift and dinner attendance list. F*ckin'....
Went to meet Kam, Azamat, Boyscout, November Cleo and Siew Yum at Nasi Lemak House. Wasnt really in the mood to eat. Strange, I never refuse nasi lemak. But it must've been all the alcohol from the night before. Looking at the nasi lemak made me sick. I settled for a warm teh tarik instead. This place serves so far the best nasi lemak in Melbourne. Nothing compared to KL but still the best you can find here. And you know, I havent really tried anything else on the menu. I did have the hokkien mee once, and it wasnt the best. I must endeavour to try something different next time I go there.
After my teh tarik, Kam was kind enough to go along with me to Chanel to get SJ's present. Got to ride in his brand new Ford Fuckers, sorry I meant Focus. Azamat started this, not me! It was a costly start to the day! $600 for the voucher, SJ will be lucky to even get a coin purse with that amount. Everything went smoothly, well not really. I was refused entry the first time I tried to walk into Chanel. Apparently the shop was full and their policy is not to let too many people in at the one time. Oh, whatever. Why do all designer shops do this? They should hire more people to work and hire more security to watch the doors. Anyway, I was successful the second time round and walking out of the store after having spent $600, I was confronted with Kam being pulled over by the cops. Shit! @@$$%&&%*(%@ Felt so bad. He was told that he wasnt allowed to stop his car (mind you his brand new car) in front of Chanel. Yes, we already knew this and my fault really. I was too lazy to look for a parking spot, that's why Kam came to drop me off and waited in the car. The cop's last words were ".....you may get a parking infringement notice in the mail...". He said "may". So, I'm thinking, he may not after all. I've already promised to pay the fine for him anyway, all $107 of it. I think it's $107. So, so, sorry.....
We all met up for dinner at Via Veneto albeit a huge number of cancellations at the last minute. The dinner itself was rather pleasant. And I dont mean that in a good way. It was decent, quiet and conservative. Wow. The absence of Princess Model and Ball Breaker sure makes a difference. Normally when I go there, I'm always with Ball Breaker, and it's always such a good laugh and we are no doubt always the loudest table in the restaurant! That night, everybody had very decent conversations and not much alcohol consumed at all. There were about 15 of us and only 3 bottles of wine (in total) on the table. What???? When Ball Breaker, Princess Model and I go there, we have atleast 5 bottles between the three of us and as a result earned ourselves to be the loudest table in the restaurant! I ended up spending $160 for dinner. Sorry, but some people just have no idea about the etiquette for dining out in large groups. Yes, from a financial perspective, we should really pay for what we consumed according to the price list on the menu. But when I agree to go out with my friends for dinner, it's not about the money. It's about the company, the good food and the good laughs. At the end of it all, I'm happy to split the bill and pay an equal share to everyone else, regardless of whether I ordered lobster or caeser salad. That's just me I guess. Cant really assume everyone else is like me.
I did have a good time at dinner though. Managed to catch up with a really old friend whom I havent seen for like 7 or 8 years. Chinta Boy has been away from Melbourne for that long and we did have alot of catching up to do. We talked about his life in New York and London. He's now thinking of taking up yoga and becoming a teacher. What a change from the corporate industry. He also wants to take up massage therapy. I told him he could practice on me first! The surprise is, I still cant believe he's 007's brother. They are so different to one another. And it's funny how I met both of them under different circumstances and never knew they were brothers until quite recently.
After dinner, we stopped by Baraki for a couple of drinks. Turns out SJ's friends are all party poopers. It was a Saturday night and nobody was up for drinks after dinner. Baraki was rocking when we got there. The waiter was kind enough to make us his Baraki special shot for the birthday girl. After resisting and whining about not doing shots at all, she ended up having about 4 Baraki specials! She was thoroughly wasted. This was when Ball Breaker and I took the opportunity to kidnap her and take her to Blvd. November Cleo was waiting for us there. I even saw Ah Sook there. Ball Breaker was busy chatting up Big Brother M and also a white boy named F, who turned out to be Little Lesbo's friend. They even organised a date for this week. Unfortunately, it's yet to happen.
It was a good night until I got to my car outside Blvd and discovered a parking fine! F*ckin'....$107. SJ's birthday hasnt brought me any good luck at all throughout the day. But you know what? It's only money. Nothing I cant make back I guess. But it was rather painful on the day. SJ better appreciate this, thank God she only celebrates her birthday once a year!
Chinta Boy? I haven't seen that one in many many years. I never knew 007 and him were brothers either! He used to be housemates with my ex ( I think )....
